COLLEGE LABORATORIES

MATHEMATICS & STATISTICS LAB

  • Mathematics Lab:
The Innovative program of Practicals in Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics started in the year 2005-06 with the idea of making use of Information Technology in teaching Mathematics.
  • Our college is the first college in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to introduce practicals in Mathematics using software Mathematica at under graduate level.
  • The goal of practicals in Mathematics is to help students learn how to use Mathematica to solve problems arising in their fields of study such as Mathematics, Physics and Computers
  • Mathematics Laboratory
  • Department established a Mathematics Laboratory with 65 computers.
  • 30 systems are equipped with MATHEMATICA software.
  • Department designed Mathematica Syllabus.
  • Prepared practical manuals for all the 3 years of B.Sc. course.
  • Many software packages are available now a day that help to solve mathematical problems.
  • Some of them are Matlab, Reduce, Macsyma and Scratchpad. Such packages are useful not only to mathematicians but also to scientists, engineers, researchers, teachers and students. One such software package is Mathematica.

About Mathematica

  • Stephen Wolfram is the creator of Mathematica, who is a well – known scientist. He is widely regarded as the most important innovator in technical computing today, as well as one of the world’s most original research scientists.
  • Professor of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Illinois-Wolfram launched Wolfram Research, Inc. Wolfram began the development of Mathematica in late 1986.
  • The first version of Mathematica was released on June 23, 1988.
  • Mathematica is the world’s only fully integrated environment for technical computing.
The largest pad of Mathematica’s user community consists of technical professionals. But Mathematica is also heavily used in education, and there are now many hundreds of courses—from high school to graduate school.
  • The diversity of Mathematica’s user base is striking. It spans all continents, ages from below ten up, and includes for example artists, composers, linguists and lawyers. There are also many hobbyists from all walks of life who use Mathematica to further their interests in science, mathematics and computing.
  • Visualization in Mathematica helps to explain abstract concepts
  • Differential equations of higher order are solved easily.

PHYSICS LAB

Laboratories: There are five spacious well equipped laboratories for degree students for doing physics practicals. There is one lab for electronics students exclusively.

The special features in laboratories are that all the labs, have UPS facilities. Conventional sodium power sources are replaced by LASERS wherever possible. There are electronic balances in all labs for accurate mass measurements. The computer lab has ten systems and a printer. LCD is used in the laboratory as and when required by the staff for teaching and learning purpose.

All the labs have scientific charts displaying different phenomenon / laws and also famous physicists photographs for creating awareness in the students.

The electricity and electronic labs in the department of physics are now solar powered. With highly energetic, efficient, enthusiastic and ever friendly lab staff, the laboratories always bubble with activity and make the students stay pleasurable in the lab.

LANGUAGE LAB

LANGUAGE LAB – A Window to better career opportunities.

This is the only affiliated college to set up a Language Lab, where special emphasis is given to teach soft skills to the college students and others. In a classroom situation teaching of language and catering to individual requirements is difficult. The basic communication skills of the majority of the students is at the lowest ebb owing to their rural background. The Examination pattern tests the writing skills of the students and there is no bench marking for communication skills. Hence Phonetics was introduced to stress on all such skills : teaching of correct pronunciation, accent, intonation, semantics, rhetoric are part of the spoken English classes. In these classes training is imparted both in listening and reading skills. Role-play and group discussion is also included in the schedule. Language Lab is an extension of semantics and phonetics aiming to give practical training through the use of modern technology. Students are eager to make use of the opportunity provided to them as it boosts their confidence levels.
The facility is extended to women especially the housewives who want to gain an edge in communication skills in English.

  1. Six New Computers have been added in 2015 to the existing 20 Computers in the English Language Lab and Internet connection is provided to all the systems for implementation of CBT.
  2. Software for Spoken English that is available in the Lab:
  3. Connected Speech
  4. Tense Buster
  5. Study Skills Success
  • A new LCD Projector in the Lab enables PPT and Documentaries to be screened.
  • Seven new computers with internet connection have been added to the existing 27 systems in the academic year 2017-2018.

The Language Lab helps the student to equip herself with

    1. The basic points of articulation and repetition practice that is useful.
    2. Stress is on English phonology with sound samples and exercises.
    3. The ” English ” is RP more or less, and introduces the most Common Vowels and Consonant sounds with useful transcription advice.
    4. A tape featuring male and female voices using each Accent is played. The Student listens to the voice and repeats the words.
    5. The goal is to help learn the vocabulary, sentence formation and articulation.
    6. Emphasis is on listening and presentation skills.
    7. Good listening requires one to concentrate on what is being said.
    8. The aid of headphones and audio cassette cater to correct pronunciation/ accent/ stress and intonation.
    9. The Focus is on individual supervision, monitoring and interaction.
    10. A one-to-one conference to improve articulation skills.
    11. The purpose of conference is to share information.

COMPUTER SCIENCE LAB

Computer Science department caters to all those students who take computers as their major/optional papers. They are used as teaching Labs. Computer Science courses are taught in one of five labs. Each lab is well equipped with latest workstations.

The computers in labs are upgraded and replaced on a regular basis to keep them up-to-date with the current state of technology. The labs also have a computer for the professor, a projector.

To expose our students to multiple platforms, our workstations boot into both Windows and Linux operating systems.

We have the Latest software which supports the curriculum. We are using the LCD Projector as one of the teaching aids. The labs are provided with Internet facility.
